Gift Guide For Runners

As Christmas comes around again, are you looking for the best gift for a runner? Or maybe your like me and enjoy Christmas shopping for yourself. After all who could buy me a better gift. In Wisconsin in winter it’s cold out, so cold weather gear is always a welcome gift in my house. Gifts for runners are easy just think simple and choose some basic staples that would fit in any runners closet. Here are a few of my favorite options.

Gear

Keeping your hands warm is key when those winter temps drop. I like mittens they keep my hands warmer than gloves. Who doesn’t like a pair of cute mittens. One pair is never enough. Oiselle has a great options for any runner.

Long sleeve running shirts are a great gift for a runner. When it comes to staying warm in winter, in my book it’s quality over quantity. One of my favorite brands is Oiselle. Any runner would love an Oiselle long sleeve shirt with a cutout for their watch!

Speaking of watches, I am a huge Coros fan. I have had my Coros Apex for 2 years now and the battery just doesn’t quit! It is easy to use and affordable making Coros the perfect watch and gift for any runner.

When the temps dip, out come the long tights. I like fleece lined tights to keep me toasty warm. My all time favorite tight is the Ranier by Athleta. They not only stay in place when you run, but they are cozy and warm. Another bonus if you are tall like me these tights come in size tall.

Another gift idea is a nice vest. I love my Patagonia vest in winter. Not only does it keep out the chill, but it has plenty of pockets that fit everything from my keys to my small water bottle.

Training

Why not give the runner in your life the gift of a running coach. If they have big goals a running coach is the perfect gift to show them how important meeting that goal is. Are they are a trail runner like me? Ornery Mule Racing not only has epic races, but has plenty of coaches to choose from for running or race nutrition.

This past year I spent more time focusing on strength training and a large part of the focus has been adding in yoga. I became a RYT-200. As a busy mom and full time nurse, a virtual class option is the best way for me to attend yoga classes. A perfect Christmas gift for a yogi is a subscription for virtual classes or maybe splurge on a gift for yourself! My Vinyasa Practice has everything from online teacher training to virtual classes.

Books

My favorite cookbook this year is Rise and Run. All the recipes are created for runners. Written by Shalane Flanigan and Elyse Kopecky, the cookbook not only has nutrient dense recipes but they are easy to make. Buy the Rise and Run cookbook or buy all 3 cookbooks written by the duo.

Gift Cards

Finally if you still aren’t sure, support local and stop in to your local running store and pick up a gift certificate. Last year for Christmas, I was so happy to find a gift card to Runaway Shoes in my stocking. Santa was good to me!
